The Draco Dilemma

Okay, this has been talked about a lot, but I want to give my views on it. As a note, I'm NOT a huge fan of Draco Malfoy. I don't really care that much if he get's killed off in book 7 or not.

So, what could happen in book 7 regarding Malfoy? Where did he go after helping the Death Eaters into Hogwarts? Did he go somewhere with Snape? Did he go to Voldemort? It's speculating time!

Where did he go?

After letting the Death Eaters into Hogwarts, Malfoy failed to kill Dumbledore. Snape finished the job for him. After all that, the Death Eaters all headed for the hills. They ran outside the Hogwarts grounds and disapparated. It's unlikely they all went to the same place. Well, unless they all went to the Dark Lord.

First of all, I don't believe they went directly to their destinations. I think they first apparated to a midway point, walked to a location with brooms waiting, flew most of the way, then landed and walked the rest. Why would they do that? Dumbledore has said before that "magic leaves traces". I'm sure a team of aurors could track them if they apparated directly to their destination. After all, if someone splinches, the Ministry pounces on them. The squad they send tracks down both halves of the wizard and undoes the magic.

Where'd he go though? Unlike most people, I don't think he went to Voldemort. If he did, there's a good chance he's dead.

Death Eater HQ

So where is the Death Eaters' headquarters? They have to have one, right? Voldy can summon the DEs with the Dark Mark tattoos, but they still need a good, secure, place to meet. It probably isn't the Riddle House. Everyone knows about that. Spinner's End isn't either. I think that's either Snape's house or a temporary safe house for a few Death Eaters. So where is DE HQ? I have no idea! That almost deserves a whole article to itself...

Voldemort - Out to get Draco?

In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, it said several times in the second chapter that Narcissa suspected that Voldy didn't expect Draco to succeed in killing Dumbledore. It seems as if he expected Malfoy to be killed.

Why would Voldy want Draco dead? Reread chapter two (Spinner's End) of the sixth book. Revenge after Lucius failed to get the prophecy would be one possibility, albeit one mentioned in the book... Don't forget that Draco failed. He was supposed to kill Dumbledore, right? Didn't the book actually say he ws to kill Dumbledore?

Where did he go? Part II

Here are my top ideas where I think Draco went after leaving Hogwarts:

  • Home to Malfoy Manor
  • Spinner's End with Snape
  • Malfoy Manor for an hour,then into hiding
  • Azkaban - He was caught

He's probably in hiding. He'll probably continue hiding for awhile. Anyway, he's hiding from the Order, the Ministry, and possibly Voldemort as well. Where to next, though? Will he stay hidden, or not?

Could Draco try to kill Voldy?

I wonder if he could try to kill Voldemort? It's a possibility, although he is a chicken... He could have realized "Hey, Voldemort's likely to be after me after I ran off, and the Order definitely is. The Ministry too..." He could try to help Harry, or he could make a pathetic attempt to kill Voldemort. Think about it. He doesn't really have much to lose by that point. If he manages to kill Voldemort somehow, he could probably escape Azkaban. If he were to help Harry, Ron, Hermione, and whoever else, there'd be less of a chance he'd be killed.

Even if it makes more sense for him, would he help...in his words: Potter?


Then again... I could be wrong...
