Dumbledore is Dead…For Now
Okay, JKR said Dumbledore is dead. That doesn’t mean he won’t return. After all, she didn’t say he wouldn’t, did she? Who says Dumbledore doesn’t have some tricks up his sleeves? This article outlines some theories that “prove” that he will return.
The Phoenix Theories
Okay, let’s not forget one important thing: He’s Dumbledore…Savvy? Well, besides that. The important thing is he’s associated with the phoenix.
Think about it. His pet, Fawkes, is a phoenix, for instance. Who says Dumbledore doesn’t have similar powers. After all, there was that part at the end of book 6… You know, the one where Harry thought he saw a phoenix flying away.
Also, when you hear the name “Dumbledore”, what are the first three things you think of?
Then don’t forget about the theory that’s been spreading around lately that it wasn’t Fawkes who came to the Chamber of Secrets after Harry, but Dumbledore. You may have noticed that the book didn’t say specifically that it was Fawkes. Harry just thought it was. That’s typical of JKR.
Silver
According to Wikipedia, silver allegedly has loads of magical properties. What does silver have to do with Dumbledore? Lots.
A large quantity of Dumbledore’s spells are described as being “silver in color”. His hair has been described as a silvery white or grey. There are lots of mentioning of silver, quite a few being about Dumbledore, in the Harry Potter series.
Sp what are these magical properties? Luck is one good example. The great Wikipedia (who needs a paper encyclopedia, anyway?) says that silver is a “remedy” for various things in mythology. It’s also used in defense against Vampires and Werewolves. Could one of those remedies be useful for Dumbledore?
Avada Kedavra…Sort Of
Then there’s the weird Avada Kedavra spell. Every (yes, every) other time JKR has shown the spell in use, the target would just collapse. Why did Dumbledore fly into the air? Unless JKR and her editors are losing their marbles, there’s more going on than meets the eye (Aaarg! That’s two overused phrases in one sentence! That must be a record.). Surely an error like that would’ve been caught well before HPB went to print. Could Dumbledore be half dead?
Well, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of hidden “clues” scattered throughout the Half-Blood Prince and the rest of the series, just waiting to be uncovered and turned into theories. I unfortunately, haven’t found them all, nor do I have the time to.
