So who is R.A.B.? Regulus Arcturius Black, Sirius's brother. What makes me think that? Quite a few things...

First of all, Mugglenet had a news article a news article a few months ago saying that HPLexicon had confirmed it. You can always trust Mugglenet! :-)

Here's a big tip-off: In some foreign language versions, the B matches the language's word for Black (like R.A.N. for Spanish).

Mugglenet had a few scans of the Black family tree recently. JKR requested that certain names be blurred. I haven't looked that closely yet, but I'd bet half My Firebolt's handle (well...maybe not...) that one of those names was Regulus. Why? It probably had his middle name on it! As for the other names, JKR probably plans to introduce some new characters whose names would give away too much about book 7.

What about what Sirius said?

"He was murdered by Voldemort or on Voldemort's orders, more likely. I doubt Regulus was ever important enough to be killed by Voldemort in person. From what I found out after he died, he got in so far, then panicked about what he was being asked to do and tried to back out..."

That was only what Sirius had heard. I think Voldy in person killed him you can probably guess why.

What about the locket? If Regulus stole it, where is it now? Hopefully he had a chance to destroy it. If he didn't it could be at 12 Grimmauld Place...Or Mundungus Fletcher could have "commandeered" it (For sale: Gold locket with big S on it!).
