The Wand Chooses the Wizard — or Does it?
We know that wands are powerful magic artifacts that are an essential tool to a wizard. If you thought you knew everything about them, you were wrong!
Wand Makers
Until book 4, JKR hadn’t confirmed the fact that Ollivander’s wasn’t the only wand maker. We should’ve realized that there had to be more. After all, if you lived in China, Egypt, The United States, or Antarctica, would you want to travel all the way to London to get a wand? According to book 4, Hogwarts and the other two schools are the biggest in Europe. In book 3, after getting back from Egypt, Ron told Harry that “those ancient Egyptian wizards put some really creative curses on their pyramids”. From this we know that there are wizards in other countries. Logically there must be wand shops all over the globe.
Does the Wand Really Choose the Wizard?
Ollivander says “the wand chooses the wizard” (TWCTW) and “you’ll rarely see good results with someone else’s wand” (meaning you’ll have trouble using a wand that doesn’t “fit” right). Is this true? I think it is.
Ron said on the Hogwarts Express that he “got Charlie’s old wand”. Why’d Charlie need a new wand? If TWCTW, why did Ron get Charlie’s? Maybe when Charlie got the wand, it was already used, and when he became a prefect the Weasleys got him a new one. But the question remains: Why is the wand secondhand?
In Diagon Alley (book 1), Harry ran into Draco Malfoy at Madam Malkin’s Robes. He said his mom was “looking at wands”. Wouldn’t Draco need to be present? It wouldn’t have been a used wand with the Malfoys being insanely rich…
Could it have been a different wand shop that doesn’t share Ollivander’s belief that TWCTW?
In the Department of Mysteries (book 5) Neville said his wand used to be his dad’s. If TWCTW, why didn’t he get his own wand?
Could it not be a well known fact that the wand chooses the wizard? Or that you’ll never get good results with the wrong wand? In Neville’s case, maybe his grandmother is too cheap to buy him a wand.
Dumbledore is NOT Dead
In addition to every reason in the article Dumbledore is Alive, we have this song:
And Odo the hero, they bore him back home
To the place that he’d known as a lad,
They laid him to rest with his hat inside out
And his wand snapped in two, which was sad.
[HBP p.488 (Std. U.S. Edition).]
Have you seen Dumbledore’s wand? From the above song, we know that they snap dead wizards’ wands in half. From book 1, we know they do this if a wizard is expelled from Hogwarts.
Priori Incantatem
Harry and Voldy both have wands with the same core, thus they can’t duel each other. This obstacle can be countered in at least two foreseeable ways.
1) Either Voldy or Harry will get a new wand. This solution is so great because it’s so pathetically dim-witted.
2) Some people say that Harry will learn to do magic without a wand. This comes partly from the wording of the prophecy (”must die by the hand of the other”). I think it’s a good theory, but the prophecy link is pathetically dim-witted. Minerva66 says that may not work anyway.
Is it possible that neither Harry nor Voldermort can kill the other? Voldermort used some of Harry’s blood to regenerate his body. We have already seen his wand will not kill Harry. It has been suggested he could use another wand. But is it possible the mingling of blood will foil Voldy again?

Here’s are some interesting questions: Is Harry’s wand the right one for him? Why were there two wands with the same core? Ollivander said it wasn’t normal. Did Dumbledore have it made? Was it given to Harry to cause Priori Incantatem if Harry and Voldy dueled? Unlikely, but still possible…
